2018 MINI Cooper Clubman vs 2018 Infiniti QX30
For those in the market for a 2018 MINI Cooper Clubman and a 2018 INFINITI QX30, it can be hard to decide between the seemingly matched performance, styling, and features of each. For drivers in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens areas, we’ve placed the 2018 MINI Cooper Clubman and the 2018 INFINITI QX30 side-by-side, so you can explore the differences between them, and decide which is the better choice for you. The QX30 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L inline-four that produces 208 horsepower as its only engine option. It’s available with front- or all-wheel drive, and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Clubman offers a little choice here, with a 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder base that produces 124 horsepower, and a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four that produces 189 horsepower. The John Cooper Works edition adds another engine to the lineup-an upgraded turbocharged inline-four that produces 228 horsepower and offers incredible power surges.
Regardless of engine choice, the Clubman is remarkably quick, with adjustable drive modes that control the behavior of the throttle and transmission, as well as damper settings. The Clubman is built for curves, with sportscar-like handling and road grip to maneuver through the tightest turns.
The QX30’s engine and transmission are average at best, and it can be hard to modulate. Depending on the choice of front- or all-wheel drive, the QX30 can be a little sportier, but it’s still a stiff ride with little athleticism or maneuverability.
Comfort and Space
The QX30 has a plush interior with high-quality materials, but it’s exceptionally cramped. The low roofline makes it difficult to seat tall passengers, and the rear seat is tight for two adults, and couldn’t possibly seat three. The cargo space is limited as well, with a mere 19.2 ft3.
Due to the many available configurations for the Clubman, you can choose the passenger accommodation you need. Four-door models offer more leg- and headroom, and it comfortably seats tall drivers and passengers. For cargo space, the Clubman boasts 17.5 ft3 with the seats up, and 47.9 ft3 with the seats folded. The Clubman also features luxurious materials and comfortable, supportive seating.
The QX30 received some style updates for 2018, but they did little to improve its quirky appearance. It features the Z-shaped design that is common with INFINITI vehicles, though it’s dramatically overdone and doesn’t really do the profile any favors.
For the interior, the QX30 stayed very traditional, in sharp contrast to its odd exterior. There are some nice touches, like stitched surfaces, but they’re not enough to redeem its boring design.
The Clubman, on the other hand, offers the same modernized retro exterior that made it so popular, and offers some additional customization options, such as mix-and-match paint, to ensure that it’s unique and personalized.
Inside, the Clubman is designed with function in mind, without sacrificing any sleek features or its modern feel. Like the exterior, the Clubman also offers an array of interior features and accents to personalize the look.
