MINI Convertible Trim Levels
The MINI Convertible is available with three trims and three configurations. The lineup starts with the Cooper, a two-door model that comes in a variety of colors with remote locking, heated mirrors, and automatic headlights. The Cooper S and John Cooper Works add a few additional performance and styling features, such as a hood scoop, alloy wheels, and driving modes.
Each model has a sub-trim customization option, starting with the Classic that adds automatic headlights, leatherette upholstery, and tech features. Then there’s the Signature, which adds keyless entry, a hood insulator, and sport seats. Finally, the Iconic builds on these features with technology features, a head-up display, and wireless charging. Several packages are available, including the new-for-2021 Sidewalk Edition that adds performance and styling upgrades.
MINI Convertible Performance
The entry level MINI Convertible model comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-three engine that produces 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the MINI Convertible boasts an EPA-estimated 26 city/37 highway MPG with a manual transmission and an EPA-estimated 28 city/37 highway MPG with the dual-clutch transmission.
The S model gets a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine that produces 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. The MINI Cooper Convertible John Cooper Works gets the same engine with higher output at 228 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for these engines is up to an EPA-estimated 26 city/34 highway MPG.
MINI Convertible Safety and Technology
All models of the MINI Convertible have the Active Driving Assistant, which bundles a number of safety features for better protection on the road. Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a feature that alerts you to potential collisions and automatically applies the brakes to intervene, is included. You can add more features with the Driver Assistance package, which includes front parking sensors, an automatic parking assistant, and adaptive cruise control, a feature that adjusts your cruise speed to stay with the flow of traffic.
The Convertible is also equipped with a range of technology features, including a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers sharp graphics and responsive menus. Apple CarPlay™ and navigation are available, as is an upgraded 8.8-inch touchscreen. There’s also a Harman Kardon premium sound system with 12 speakers.
