2018 MINI John Cooper Works
This year, in keeping with new safety laws, all 2018 MINI John Cooper Works Hardtops come with a standard rearview camera. Other safety features are now standard, too, like rear parking sensors. You also get front parking sensors and automatic parking with the Technology Package add-on. A number of control modifications have been added to the cabin, as well, to simplify operations and make it more intuitive to use.
Technology & Features
The MINI John Cooper Works comes with a ton of standard features. Before diving in, it’s worth knowing that the JCW is the range-topping trim of the MINI. That means it gets electronic limited-slip differential, keyless ignition, heated mirrors, Bluetooth®, HD Radio™, Brembo brakes, sport suspension, LED headlights, and a range of other features, depending on the packages you choose.
As part of the upgrade, you also get an improved turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. This gives you 228 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, which is a lot of power under the hood of a subcompact car. The aerodynamic body kit, spoiler, sport-tuned suspension, and body styling add to the outstanding performance that you’ll get from the JCW 2018 MINI Cooper.
Looking for more options for your new JCW? Fear not, as MINI is known for its range of add-on packages to customize your car perfectly. The Premium Package gives you keyless entry, a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon® sound system, and a sunroof. The Technology Package gives you parking sensors in front, automated parking, GPS navigation, and a larger display screen at 8.8 inches for the entertainment system. Finally, the Cold Weather Package allows you to add auto-dim mirrors, heated front seats, and power fold mirrors.
There are also a range of individual add-ons, including all-season tires, Adaptive Cruise Control, Head-Up Display, leather upholstery, and a full range of customizations like contrasting roof colors, hood stripes, and special interior trim.
Of course, it’s not all about features. The MINI has a reputation for being a playful and fun car to drive, and the JCW is no exception. The upgraded engine gives peppy acceleration, solid braking, agile and sporty steering, and just an extremely fun driving experience.
