2018 MINI Cooper Convertible Review

The MINI Cooper encompasses a wide range of front-wheel drive  compacts, but each offers its own unique style and features. The MINI Cooper Convertible is one of the options for 2018, with a unique combination of exciting performance and classic MINI style.

Drivers in the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan areas can learn about the new features for the 2018 MINI Cooper Convertible with our in-depth review. If you are ready to test drive, feel free to contact us.

The MINI Cooper Convertible offers three different engine options. The base is equipped with a direct-injected, turbocharged 1.5L inline-three that produces 134 horsepower, the Cooper S is equipped with a direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder that produces 189 horsepower, and the John Cooper Works model, which is the 2.0L four-cylinder with 228 horsepower.

All three engine options are paired with a six-speed manual transmission standard, or six-speed automatic transmission as an available option. In either case, there’s an automatic stop-start for increased fuel-efficiency.

The Convertible is designed for performance and excitement, so it offers nimble handling and smooth shifting. Around corners, it hugs the curves with ease, and it feels even quicker than it is. With three available drive modes to control the throttle and transmission, you can customize your ride for fuel-efficiency, performance, or a balance of the two.

Like all MINI Coopers, the Convertible has a lush, comfortable interior, with high-quality materials and supportive seating.  For 2018, the instrument cluster was redesigned, making it much more intuitive in its layout and placement of knobs and switches.

Standard technology includes a 6.5-inch display screen, Bluetooth® connectivity, remote keyless entry, heated mirrors, a power top, dual-zone climate control, and faux leather.

In addition, the Cooper is highly customizable, with available options including eight upholstery choices, various trim finishes, mix-and-match paint, leather upholstery, head-up display, a Harman Kardon® stereo system, real-time traffic, a touch controller with handwriting recognition, a rain warmer, satellite radio, and much more.

Standard safety equipment for the Cooper Convertible includes six airbags, a rigid body, run-flat tires, electronic traction and stability control, an anti-lock braking system, a rearview camera, rear park distance control, and automatic pop-up roll hoops.

Additional features like an advanced brake system, corner brake control, park assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and LED headlights with cornering are available.

The Convertible’s new look got a bit more refinement and some sculpted lines, but it still has the retro-modern style that the Coopers are known for. The biggest difference is the lack of visible roll bars, since the new models have automatic bars that extend in the event of a rollover.

Like the interior, the Convertible offers many options for exterior customization.
